Looking at these pics makes me think some of our officials need an extreme makeover. Maybe I'm old fashioned but I think sloppy shirt and jeans and stringy hair just screams unprofessional. And I'm not just referring to the women. By no means do I think designer clothes are necessary but a nice pant's suit and appropriate shoes would be a great improvement. I would think that these people could afford to look a little more professional given the astronomical salaries they receive. I will not vote for Link or Sams but at least they dress as if they give a damn about their appearance. Sure am hoping someone runs that I can vote for in the Commission race. A little dieting wouldn't hurt some of them either. Anyway, just my opinion.
 

I agree in part maybe i would make a great politican lol. Back to it we all know who it's in reference to at least he there every day doing his job attends mettings and stuff hell when i was growing up overhauls and work shoes was considered dress clothes. myself it whats inside not out that make a person not the clothes or money he or she has. Hell kids pay anywhere from 60 to 100 bucks for a pair of holey jeans
 

It's illegal to annoy
A new federal law states that when you annoy someone on the Internet, you must disclose your identity. Here's the relevant language.
"Whoever...utilizes any device or software that can be used to originate telecommunications or other types of communications that are transmitted, in whole or in part, by the Internet... without disclosing his identity and with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten, or harass any person...who receives the communications...shall be fined under title 18 or imprisoned not more than two years, or both."
Buried deep in the new law is Sec. 113, an innocuously titled bit called "Preventing Cyberstalking." It rewrites existing telephone harassment law to prohibit anyone from using the Internet "without disclosing his identity and with intent to annoy."
To grease the rails for this idea, Sen. Arlen Specter, a Pennsylvania Republican, and the section's other sponsors slipped it into an unrelated, must-pass bill to fund the Department of Justice. The plan: to make it politically infeasible for politicians to oppose the measure.
The tactic worked. The bill cleared the House of Representatives by voice vote, and the Senate unanimously approved it Dec. 16.
There's an interesting side note. An earlier version that the House approved in September had radically different wording. It was reasonable by comparison, and criminalized only using an "interactive computer service" to cause someone "substantial emotional harm."
That kind of prohibition might make sense. But why should merely annoying someone be illegal?
There are perfectly legitimate reasons to set up a Web site or write something incendiary without telling everyone exactly who you are.
Think about it: A woman fired by a manager who demanded sexual favors wants to blog about it without divulging her full name. An aspiring pundit hopes to set up the next Suck.com. A frustrated citizen wants to send e-mail describing corruption in local government without worrying about reprisals.
In each of those three cases, someone's probably going to be annoyed. That's enough to make the action a crime. (The Justice Department won't file charges in every case, of course, but trusting prosecutorial discretion is hardly reassuring.)
Clinton Fein, a San Francisco resident who runs the Annoy.com site, says a feature permitting visitors to send obnoxious and profane postcards through e-mail could be imperiled.
"Who decides what's annoying? That's the ultimate question," Fein said. He added: "If you send an annoying message via the United States Post Office, do you have to reveal your identity?"
Fein once sued to overturn part of the Communications Decency Act that outlawed transmitting indecent material "with intent to annoy." But the courts ruled the law applied only to obscene material, so Annoy.com didn't have to worry.
"I'm certainly not going to close the site down," Fein said on Friday. "I would fight it on First Amendment grounds."
He's right. Our esteemed politicians can't seem to grasp this simple point, but the First Amendment protects our right to write something that annoys someone else.
It even shields our right to do it anonymously. U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas defended this principle magnificently in a 1995 case involving an Ohio woman who was punished for distributing anonymous political pamphlets.
If President Bush truly believed in the principle of limited government (it is in his official bio), he'd realize that the law he signed cannot be squared with the Constitution he swore to uphold.
And then he'd repeat what President Clinton did a decade ago when he felt compelled to sign a massive telecommunications law. Clinton realized that the section of the law punishing abortion-related material on the Internet was unconstitutional, and he directed the Justice Department not to enforce it.
Bush has the chance to show his respect for what he calls Americans' personal freedoms. Now we'll see if the president rises to the occasion.
 

I was not just talking about Pete Triplett. jerry, you missed the entire point of my comment. There's nothing wrong with jeans if you're working in your garden or attending a rodeo but if you are a county clerk, county commissioner, a little pride in your appearance would go a long way toward how people perceive you. I'm sorry, but it's inexcusable to go to work in any public setting looking as if you just crawled out of bed.
 

Well with all the insults thrown at MP in the last weeks she has a lot of new grounds to sue, with the new law out. If I was a frog I'd dig myself down in the mud and draw my blog after me and hibernate for the winter.
 

But her website annoyed ME. Then she "created" a blog for "someone else" that also annoyed ME. Sue. Countersue. Round & round & round we go. We should all start using "MP" & watch her go nuts.

Good morning!

Ya know, it's certainly not just our political leaders who could use a makeover. I know it's not politically correct to say so, but have you walked into a school recently? Half the time, you can't tell the teachers from the students because they all dress alike. I realize it's not "fair" because really, all men have is either dress or casual. The women, though, are all caught up in the fashion du jour. Yeah, they have a dress code & all that, but sometimes, it's nice to see teeny-boppers dressed like teeny-boppers & grown-ups dressed like grown-ups.

I for one feel that when representing our county the elected ones should be well dressed and deliver an impression, but they are working people. Peter works in a parts store should he wear a tie, Fran runs a wrecker service (thanks for taking care of my car the other night) should she wear a dress and high heels, should Jimmy wear a hospital gown since he is totally disabled (check).
 

It ain't just the county commission, though. The only meetings I ever been at where anybody's dressed half decent is the school board.

MP closed her site again. She ain't gettin much traffic.
 

Am I the only one who even looked at the picture of our present Clerk of the County Court of Clay County???

All are so fixated on the County Commissioners that none even looks at anyone else.
