Ideas on who to vote for anyone, or for that matter who not to vote for?

So far, nobody's really said or done anything to sway me one way or the other.

Link's got some great recipes on his site, though!

Hey, lonestranger!

I don't mean to be igornant (but I am - ignorance can be fixed, ya know), but what $2,660,000? What is that??

Read page two of the free press this week, you will know who to vote for. Maybe I should say you will know who to vote for if you have any common sense.

Well I looked on page two and if thats what it takes to have any sense then I guess I will be braindead for a H*** of a long time. Rose the $2,660,000.00 is missing monies due the IRS, compliments of Mr. Linkinbogger. Also he likes trading so maybe you ladys can trade some goods for Links receipes. I hear jobs for B***j*bs is his specialty tho.

I don't know nearly enough about the B of E to speak intelligently about their finances at all, but I did some asking & here's what I was told:

The Board had a $285,000 deficit when Link became superintendent in 1995. The books have been balanced
every year since.

Every penny that the Levy generates is defined as follows: Building Maintenance = $80,000; Textbooks, school supplies and equipment = $125,000; Utilities = $101,000 (utilties are actually around 3 times more than that); Transportation = $71,129; Extra Curricular Activities (athletics, music, 4-H, drama, the arts, etc); Instructional Equipment = $25,000.

Some years they get more and some less, depending on the amount of taxes collected. All funds have to go in one of the categories mentioned.

I'm in no way defending Link or anything the Board does. I just want to make sure that as I'm educating myself in preparation to cast my vote, I've got the best "education" I can get.

I'll do some more asking about the IRS...

There ARE other candidates. How come Link's getting all the press? Isn't there dirt to be dished on the other 2?

If we can believe what rose says, Link can help balance a budget & MP can help bleed one dry. How about Jimmy?

I'd be interested in knowing what Fran & Pete think of the candidates. They're the ones that will have to work with them.

A BJ now & then never hurt Slick Willy's career. That's what keeps the Democrat's "liberal."

hey Rose you didn't even acknowledge the receipt of the letter i sent you. just like link won't acknowledge the item published in a partial financial statenent, last June, i believe. how do we know the budget has been balanced. if you mean balanced like the new schools budget has been balanced then we are in big, big, trouble. no Link. send him some vaseline.

Yes, I did! I take it you didn't get it, huh? I'll resend it.

From what I understand, the BOE doesn't pay taxes to the IRS. They do, however, pay standard employer withholding taxes from employee (teachers, administrators, etc.) paychecks. These are federally matched dollars & include social security, federal taxes - all the standard stuff withheld & paid by any employer.

Property taxes paid by the BOE are less than $100/year.

I'm not sure if I should be flattered or insulted by being lumped with Link. Hmm. He does have nice hair & he is gainfully employed ...

yes Rose i understand they pay these taxes. what i'm trying to get is an explanation of 2,660 000. buried in vendor sales. why the "odd" method of bookkeeping. and does the BOE pay that much every year. "or" is this a payment to attempt to cover up payments that weren't paid in the past.

what's at stake?
$2,660,000
possibilities:
embezzelment, theft
reasons;
embezzelment
the usual; personal enrichment
theft
using taxpayer money to cover for the present and/or past administrations lack of proper transfer of money to the IRS
questions;
1. can a citizen ask for appointment of a grand jury?
2. can a citizen ask for a special prosecutor?
3. if so, who pays the cost.
1. if alleged crimes are found to have occured?
2. if no crimes are found.

Big tadoo about nothing regarding the recipe books. Somehow it was conveniently left out that ALL of the donors gave the money a second time to fund the book. Now that's support.
