I think he looks right at home there among the legislative worthies.

At least he shows up in a suit and tie.

Many of the ones who started us on the path of destruction with Filcon are long gone from the scene.

Black eye? Haven't seen that.

If you want to dig up old info, check out the mess Link inherited when he started.

One thing for sure our CCC always rolled over and played dead until lady commish hit the scene the past 2 years no lowering coal taxes. Today at the courthouse she pulled up her gonads and made a motion to raise the taxes on a coal barron from up north several thousand dollars with the other two agreeing up not willing to take the heat. She was allfull purty I must say so!

That was a unanimous vote to demand fair taxation to the coal companies
Someone comments on the Link pictures with Senator and Delegates. So ... Weren't that campaign shots done on school time?

Of course they were shot on school time. What do you think he was doing there. He was trying to get MORE money for the school board.

Just to go with the FLOW::::::
Once again the governor of the state of Wv and some legislators have the Cranial Dungitis Disease as they prepare a REWARD for the 18 Coal Miners Killed already this year.
Here is the solution to the mine disasters as to date;;;;;;;;;;;;;
We The State Tax Dept. need to give the Underground Coal Operators a Tax Break so they can make our underground mines a safer place to work for our coal miners. Now thats a real solution to the problem Joe. And as one "really" bright Senator stated:::Lets give them up to 50% of there Taxes FREE. NOT one thought has been given to :::::: Lets ENFORCE THE LAWS on the books ALREADY and make the COAL OPERATORS a little more RESPONSIBLE for the safety and well being of the MINERS. We do that with every industry in the state except COAL.. Timber operators are paying almost EQUAL amounts to Compensation as they do in Wages. We the STATE let COAL OPERATORS skip out on COMPENSATION DEBTS as a reward to their workers already as Compensation has tried for years to collect BILLIONS in Comp DEBTS with little or no help from other STATE AGENCYS.... I can see where this is going as Don Blankenship has warned Joe he is a one term Governor... Guess you got him in your pocket now Don.

I learned something today. Do you know with the School Levy in Clay County 74 cents of every dollar of our taxes goes straight to Link and the school system. I think Kukula Fran and Ollie do a damn good job running a whole county on 26 cents on the dollar. We better think which can run a budget Link or our current CCC.

Holy man say's if it ain't broke don't fix it. We-all don't have a heck of a choice but to leave it as it is on the ccc this time around!
# posted by Anonymous Anonymous : 11:25 AM, February 23, 2006

You are right about 74 cents of each dollar going to education. What you don't know is that in poor ole Clay County that only amounts to 1.5 million. Throw in the excess levy and you have 2 million. There budget last year was 18 million. They get the rest from the state and the feds. They employ over 300 people with a payroll of $400,000 every two weeks. They are the largest employer in the county. The ccc has an annual budget of 1.5 million.....

Seems about a month ago I asked that everyone find out where the Tax money went and who go the biggest piece of the pie and also who had the largest levy in the state. I am glad you have done a little research and now you know where how who and why clay county is in deep do do when it comes to funding the courthouse and the Gov portion of the county. Also you need to also see who in the courthouse has the biggest piece of that portion of the Tax pie.. I been researching since early 90 and I used to have the
Tax pie as it was cut for the county and also had a picture called the Tax hog and how it was being fattened by the legislature and what county's in the state benefited the most from what the hog pooped out then you would also see who can't get anything to work on because of the gluttens in some county bleeding the rest dry. Ahhhhhhhh another fine day in the life and times of the Taxpayers getting scamed

Clay County Schools has the third smallest excess levy in the state. Only Calhoun and Hampshire have smaller levies.
# posted by Anonymous Anonymous : 2:14 PM, February 23, 2006

I hate to correct you elected official, but you are mistaken. Clay has the second smallest levy. Only Calhoun has a smaller one. Kanawha has the largest levy--43 million.

It has been broke with Sams on the CCC!!!

Where has he made any progress?

It is the same with him, lawsuit after lawsuit.

Same thing for Link, he wont even follow sunshine laws now!

Guess you know who I am voting for now!

i don't follow what elected official is trying to say. the CCC dorsn't have any say in the BOE dealings. the levy is a BOE thing. perhaps it is so small because the people haven't trusted our elected officials in the past. I[we the people] would like to know that we have good managers in office that could and would acc't for their expenditures.

I learned about 35 years ago that my budget contained so much money as it had to buy necessary things in life. Food, shelter, clothing, automobile, gas,and all the things it takes to get threw this world. I also learned that if I went on a spending spree I had to cut out something important and going hungry just ain't my cup of tea so I stopped spending what I didn't have. Government officials continually look into their crystal ball and prepare a budget on what might come in. Now here's my point. I have to make due on what I get and I learned a long time ago that noone gives anything and $27.00 this years raise won't buy my gas to get to the dr and back. I knew my budget was shot this year before I even made it out and could probably have saved $.05 had I not wasted the paper its written on. Maybe we could get governing agency's to live on our budget for awhile. Or maybe we could get them to cut back 17 million. Be more appropriate .

I [we the people] would still be interested in what Commissioners King and Triplett have to say about the Commission Hopefuls. Who can they work with? Who can they not?

hey Rose like to go a little farther on taxes. use the tobacco tax as an example. was in business at one time. learned that cigarette taxes are applied at the wholesale level. the wholesaler must buy tax stamps from the state. [by the way i'm talking about days when mom and pop were in business. don't know how it's done now.] then the wholesaler had to break every carton open and apply a stamp to each pack. then the tax was added to the price and passed on to the retailer. the retailer then added his desired profit as if the wholesale price was the price of the product. resulting in a tax on tax. if cigs. were 1.50 a pack with a 1.50 added tax the resulting price of 3.00 would then be retailed. at the current gross sales tax there would be a tax of .18. now .09 cents of this is on the price of the product and.09 cents on the added taxes resulting in a tax on tax. now 1000 packs of cigs. at $3.00 would have a tax of $180. of which $90. would be tax on tax.

I believe that the people need to weigh the evidence and vote for someone to make a difference in Clay County. We have seen great changes lately in our politicians but the attitude of clay countians needs to change. We want change but do we try to help make the change. We run our mouths but do we step up to the plate.

That is too much math for me! Granted, I did make the Dean's List in college Trig (and Calculus)(shall I post my grade cards?), but man, that was a long time ago!

I believe they do still tax tax. That's why it's so much cheaper to buy cigarettes in other states. Ever bought them online? Some sites don't charge you tax at all. Some charge you based on the state where you live. I'm sure it's illegal & I'm not recommending it to anybody, but go online, buy them at wholesale prices, have them shipped to your old pal in Virginia or somewhere where they don't have sales tax, then have him mail them to you.

Here's the sad part in the CCC race. Sams ain't too bright and lawsuit prone. Link is a back door operator with tendancies to leave the public out of the picture altogether. MP brain is smaller than Sams and has sticky fingers.
Our problem is with the quality of candidates

And it was said, once apon a time, that he so ever might break but one of God's Commandments have broken them all! James Madison, the fourth president, known as " The Father Of The Constitution" made the following statement: " We have staked the whole of all our political institutions upon the capacity of mankind for self-government, upon the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves, to control ourselves, to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments Of God."

have solved one puzzle to my satisfaction.in my opinion no one got a direct kickback in the Ivydale school deal. the reduction in price to 100,00 from the rumored 150,000 was so the election could be influenced. by doing this the congregation of the religious organization that purchased the bldg. will be influenced to vote for the person who engineered the deal. "the public musat be deceived" sounds, to me, a lot like votes are being bought with taxpayers money.

Speaking of Kickbacks and political payback vote buying tactics. Rumor of the neighborhood
Has anyone heard that the construction company that is working on the new Queer Dale school site underbid $500,000.00 and now wants the BOE to pay up before finishing... Just another scam in the hood looks like and pay before the work is done still thrieves in Clayberry

Feb. 28 am And speaking of County Commission candidates...... CCC challenger Jerry Linkinooooooger has a web site where he presents info for his political advantage. He mentions grants coming in left and right and their benefit to the county of Clay. Here's one from the USDA that needs highlighted from 2003: Clay County Board of Education; Clay, WV $500,000 Area(s) Served: Clay County Contact: Jerry Linkinogger (304) 587-4266; Fax: (304) 587-4181 Congressional District(s): 2nd The Clay County Board of Education will utilize grant funds to network local schools in Clay County with distance learning. The Clay County school district is composed of 7 schools (five elementary, one middle, and one high school), 2,133 end user site students, 175 faculty, and 10,300 community residents who will comprise the end user sites. Distance learning labs will be installed allowing more advanced courses and new classes to be taught within the network. Specialized teachers from a number of school districts will participate in the project which will provide a maximum benefit to students along with substantially reduced costs to the district. Each school has a technological coordinator to oversee local issues, with all seven collectively working together to make the overall project operationally successful.
Feb. 28 am Remember that one? Letters were mailed out telling us wireless internet was coming reaaal soon. $500,000 spent and can anyone see the benefit? Does anyone have wireless high speed internet compliments the $500,000 grant. Are the schools linked together? Can the computer labs be used for distant learning via wireless internet? Lots of hype back then but the answer is no. Just one more thing example of Federal dollars coming into Clayberry and POOF! All gone without intended results.
Feb. 28 am In the last edition of The Communicator we gave notice of that same guy collecting campaign funds by selling space in his little "We Support Link" cookbook. We centered attention on Link giving back those contributions because he started too early, before filing for office, a no no in W Va. County Commissioner Fran King was one of those contributors.
Feb. 28 am Last night Ms King referenced our article. According to King, Yes, she donated to the cookbook but was NOT told the cookbook was going to be used as campaign material. She said she felt others gave $ under the guise of publishing a cookbook in honor of school system cooks NOT to promote a candidate for office. She added that the Linkster was none too happy when word got out he was returning the $.
Feb. 28 am Hush Hush has been the mode for the school system for years. Just thinking back on that $500,000 grant and performance, maybe they do need to keep things quiet. Looks better that way!
