Not much has changed over the years. A few years back, a well known young lady was inducted even though she had conceived out of wedlock. The names were right, so it happened for her. A few years after that, a gal, equally as intelligent and capable was not given the not because of her premarital activities. It's all in the name. What a shame for the name of NHS.

As an educator I will never participate in any other clubs, assemblies, or committees when our moral values have been lowered to this level. Mr Krauklis not only did not attend classes for 8 months while he was the Anthony Center in Logan. That translates to the fact that his school work was not of the same level as the children attending High School. Mr Krauklis is also STILL on probation. He was also allowed to participate in sports. Seems that last year several students were not allowed to be in THE SOCIETY because they were in ALC for 3 days (Miles Slacks Daughter for fighting, Fran Kings Daughter for skipping school, RB Leggs Niece for disrespect) but Mr Dobbins instructed the 5 member committee to blackball these but yet the current year committee was instructed to approve Mr Krauklis.

wow, I wouldn't go around trying to pretend I was an "educator" if I couldn't even write in complete sentences. Maybe you meant that you play an educator on tv? As for the honor society, who cares? It's not like it helps you do anything in life, ever. If I would've told my boss during my interview, "listen man, I was in the honor society at clay high, so I'm kind of a big deal" he would've laughed at me while escorting me out of the building. Only in a town where graduating from high school is a big deal do things like that matter.

Actually the National Honor Society IS a big deal when you're trying to get into college. It also qualifies you for additional college grants, etc. When your resume has nothing on it BUT high school, it also helps to prove that you were at least a decent student.

If, indeed, there's merit to these allegations, the Committee shirked their responsibility, the principal shirked his responsibility, the Board of Ed shirked their responsibility.

Given all that shirking, it's no wonder our school kids have absolutely no sense of responsibility. People with no sense are trying to teach it to them.

I have always heard and have learned that the best education is self education and that leads to this. All opinions are allowed in our nation We as a nation may not agree to every opinion but still it is acceptable in our society to voice our thoughts thru our opinion. Point is You have to be Honorable to recieve Honor and it seems our school system has excluded that in the appointment for the National Honor Society and have installed "butt kissing" in the place of honor. There is no Honor in a thief and Jeff Krauklis can wear whatever on his sleeve he will still be known by his peers as a thief the odd thing is he has made others in his class realize our school system is the most Fraudulent organization in this county. My Grandmother called me and told me about this site. I would like to tell my story. I was a good student participated in TSA and FFA. I even won several awards for Clay County High School. I never missed but 5 days of high school when I had the flu. I was never in detention or ALC. My junior year I did not make National Honor Society and I was crushed. When I talked to MR Klemons he explain just a few juniors get in and he was sure the next year I would make it. My senior year I took college algebra, trig and calc, college chemistry, and college history and english. I did make several B's but these were advanced classes. When it came to National Honor Society I missed it by 1/10th of a percent and was turned down. I went to Joann Exline who said I should maybe have taked slack classes like art or cooking instead of the advanced classes. She explained that some students that were getting into the group had cake classes they still had a higher GPA. The result of this I did not get any scholarships. I did get student loans which I will be paying on for a very long time but the same students that I graduated with that got the scholarships have quit college, drunk themselves out of school, or got pregnant. But I will make it just to prove the teachers at Clay County High School that they are not God.
2000 graduate that was SHIT on.(I am just one of many)

Anonymous at 9:12/it must be completely disheartening to work so hard and see others who aren't quite as deserving get rewarded and then abuse what they have been rewarded. I hope though that you are progressing not to prove anything to others, who probably won't realize the difference anyway, but to make your life what you want it be. It will come to you at some point that what happens in school is only minutely the reality of real life. Just do what you want to do and what you think is right and let everyone else alone. The people that truly matter will shine through, the people that don't, will eventually wither away and no longer be any part of your life.

I remember reading in the Daily Mail, Free Press and Communicator and posted around the county that she was last seen walking on Mt Home road so I suppose that information must have been correct or to mislead the Wv State Police but it surely was seen all over the place. If that was not correct information then the posters should have not stated such. Newspapers will post anything as everyone knows either correct or incorrect.

I had never heard of this blog until today. Someone told me that Jeffrey Krauklis and the National Honor Society was a topic of discussion. How many of you people even know Jeffrey? How many of you having taken the time to consider this young man and his future? I have known Jeffrey now for quite some time. I knew him before and after the crimes were committed. I have had the pleasure of having this young man in my classroom. Jeffrey has acknowledged that what he did was wrong. He often used his experience as examples of bad things that happen to those who make bad decisions(these examples were quite a learning experience for many of his classmates). I dont necessarily have an opinion on whether or not Jeffrey deserves do be in the NHS or not. That was left up to the 40+ highly qualified professionals that form the selection committee. My goal in writing on Mr. Waddell's (or whomever)site is to inform the public of Jeffrey's character. Jeffrey obviously made some poor decisions. The purpose of Juvenile Hall is to reform a person so they will not make these same choices in the future. Jeffrey has dealt with this for a few years now. He has had no other infractions on his character. This is a young man who deserves to be treated with respect. He is a friendly, caring, hard working, and HONEST young man. Yes, i said HONEST. He stepped up and took the deserved punishment for his actions. This past school year Jeffrey participated in many activities. Who are YOU to question this young man's character and attitude during life? Who are YOU to question that Jeffrey (a 17 year old) will never make it in life? Who are YOU to begrudge him of a chance to move on with out this hanging over his head? Who are YOU to question the sincerity of this young man's attempt to overcome his decisions? What type of person are YOU to write on this site the things that you have written? Jeffrey is 17 years old, in our country's eyes, still a child. Of course most children do not make monumental mistakes that Jeffrey made, but a kid makes mistakes. Maybe Jeffrey doesn't deserve to be in the National Honor Society, but maybe the National Honor Society doesn't deserve to have Jeffrey. Jeffrey is an outstanding young man who will be a valuable member of this society that we currently live. I am proud of the reformation that has occurred in Jeffrey's life. YOU people need to consider how judgmental you are being. I am sure that someone will have some ridiculous reply to these comments. That's fine, do whatever you need to do. But for your maturity's sake, leave Jeffrey alone. Jeffrey, go out and live the wonderful life you deserve.

Another fine example of Butt Kissers Unanimous in Clayberry. And by the way its not a Juvy Hall its a mininum security Prison and it takes a real professional bunch of 40+ to reccommend a criminal for NHS after all we did have Draft Dodgers For President and how Honorable is that. Well Ms Professional I spoke with the National Honor Society in Virginia and I did file a formal written complaint. They informed me that Clay County High School did violate the character clause of the National Honor Society agreement when they allowed a Convicted Criminal to be inducted. They were also very upset that anyone being in ALC could not be considered. They informed me that was descrimination and it was crazy for a 13 year old freshman to make a mistake there first year in high school for disrespect, talking, or many other reasons and be denied the priviledge of being in National Honor Society yet they allowed a CRIMINAL to be in national honor society. If JEFFREY admits his wrong why did his parents refuse to allow him to serve his community service by picking up trash where PEOPLE could see him. They requested that Judge Facemire have him do community service in private so the general public would not see him doing such a menial task. I know because he bragged about it just like he bragged about making A's when he was in lockdown and never picking up a pencil or paper.

Wow! Look at what's going on here. I dont agree with what 2:43 said, but good points were made. 8:51 was quick to correct that Jeffrey went to Prison and not Juvenile Hall....so, lets correct him/her by saying its Butt Kissers Anonymous and not Unanimous. 12:19 asked if the thugs of the county should be treated with respect like 2:43 says Jeffrey should. I dont think that Jeffrey and the town thugs are in the same boat. The town thugs have repeatedly acted like thugs. I wouldn't say Jeffrey is a thug. I think that 2:43 was just asking that Clay should focus on Jeffrey being allowed in the NHS and not that Jeffrey is this horrible monster that many are saying. For you who feel that the 40+ professionals made a mistake, then go out and become a professional yourself so you can make it right. It's pleasant to see someone in this town making valid points. And for you 4:28, you made a valid point also. But, if Judge Facemire did do what you said, then again, go out and become a judge so you can correct him. The two board members were upset when the announcement was made of who was in the Honor Society. The reason it is on the blog is because Mr. Waddell attended the board meeting when it was discussed and he brought it to the public's attention. Mr. King and Mrs. Cercone have made it clear that they do not condone the message sent. Wonder what the message would have been had Henry Cercone not made the society. That is how it became known. Cercone's son was inducted, she probably knew before any blog of Mr. Waddell's. Dont forget that Mr. Waddell's wife works for the school system that he so gloriously puts down. Mr. Waddell is the butt kisser that many of you are unaware of. I wonder how he gets all of his information.

By the way, the clayberry site has never mentioned the kid's name.. AW did not attend that Board meeting where everything was done secret. As a matter of fact, no one was there because it was all done away from the public. That's the way Link does business. Easier that way!
Lets see now, in addition to a wife in the system, there are a total of 6 other family members in the system and I have managed to stay alive telling the truth over the last 11 years. Amazing!

By the way, if you were not at the meeting, how do you know whether or not the board spoke on the topic of the KID? I suppose you were relying on the sources you have to tell you. So, Mr. Waddell(Ace Cub reporter), since you have had this new ethical standard turn around, let's ask it to you point blank.....Are you the one running this Blog or have any ties whatsoever to this blog (other than a link)? I'm sure our man will answer my question with a quick response. By the way, you should be commended for staying alive for 11 years. Thats a heck of a statement. Has that been your goal in running your organization? Mr. Waddell, you have managed over your career to do some good things for the county, i'll admit that. You did bring us another source of news other than the Free Press, and you did bring a radio station to this town.....maybe you can use some of your sources to get some grant money to turn it into a station such as the Roane Co or Braxton Co station (that would be something to be proud of). However, Mr. Waddell, I dont think that you have a clue in this life how to run an ethical business. You simply cause discernment among the people here in this county. Your methods of reporting are aimed at the many in this county that don't have much. You grab their attention by causing chaos. Do you really feel in your heart that that is a good thing? Maybe you do believe your goal is to "tell the truth," but do you really feel good about the manner in which you tell the truth? Can you not tell the truth without all the sarcasim and obvious intent to boil ones blood? Now that would be a refreshing paper. But, i guess it wouldnt sell for 50-70 cents would it. You talk of the way Link does business, let's talk of the way you do business. Is it easier for you to sell papers telling the truth the way you do it? Tell us a little bit of the way you do business. My dad always said "people are only criticized if they are successful." There is no doubt, you have been successful. You do manage to get across your ultra liberal views because of your efforts and desire to run a newspaper. So, Mr. Waddell (Ace Cub Reporter, Mr. Ethical Business Man) inform us by answering these questions. Don't forget to answer them all, and then give your opinion on how to do business. Let's see just how amazing you actually are.

Well, it's obvious that you all are just jealous that you were too stupid to make it in the honor society. I did it without trying, but I'm smart. It doesn't mean anything to anyone outside of clay county. I didn't graduate in the top 5, 10, or 20 in my class, but I know I'm making more money than anyone that was ahead of me. There are several people that make it into the honor society, then that's it. Nothing like hitting your peak in high school. It kind of reminds me of Al Bundy's four touchdowns in one game. "Yeah, I made the honor society at clay high school. Now I got the sugar and collect a disability check 'cause they had to take my foot." By going out of your way and filing complaints against some kid that you've probably never met, you're just showing that you've got a lot of time on your hands. Who cares if he's in some society, life is the greatest equalizer of them all. Having a prison record will overshadow any dinky little club you were in in high school. Try getting a security clearance with a prison record, even if you were valedictorian at clay county high school, they'll slap a big DENIED on your application.

Gossip sells & here we are, giving it away for free. We hack on AW for putting it all together in a nice little package for us & making us pay 70 cents for it, then we hack on him some more for giving us the opportunity. He feeds us a few facts to fuel the fire & the vicious cycle becomes never-ending.

Maybe we should hack on him for wasting all that paper, too. That's not very environmentally friendly. & how about that ink? Just because the government regulators say it's safe, that doesn't mean it's not seeping into your skin & slowly killing you. & how are those papers being disposed? Just another addition to the ever-growing landfill problems. & honestly, 70 cents? Money is filthy. Passing it from hand to hand to hand just to pay for that little gossip rag is probably going to give us all some sort of nasty flesh-eating disease. & all the stress from getting so riled up over what he prints? Obviously, he's a pharmaceutical butt kisser & is getting major kickbacks from the makers of Prozac.

Shame, shame, Mr. Waddell.

No, being anonymous is not whats wrong with this county...better yet, maybe it is. i recall that about 11 years back that no one could figure out who was responsible for this new newspaper called the Communicator.
Then, we have someone calling out Anon at 6:30 for being anonymous and the person doing the calling out at 9:01 was anonymous themselves. I think the problem with Clay Co is the lack of ambitious people. Ask the children here in Clay what they want to be when they grow up. How many will say doctors, lawyers, nurses, etc.

it says in the communicator that the VALLEY-DALE bldg. fund is 2.2 mil. short. i wonder if that money was used to cover a shortage caused by a 2.66 mil. payment to the IRS last FY. I wonder if the IRS got that money. i wonder where that money is now.

Quite amazing that the teachers here in clay co have managed to produce two Schools of Excellence and have kept our schools consistently rated in the states top 5-10 for years now. The reason people are on welfare for the most part is because they lack desire and/or motivation. Those are the same people raising the children in clay co. the same children that our teachers continues to motivate to do well enough to score so prestigeously in this state. The reason most people are critical of our teachers and school system is because its the only thing in this town other than fola coal. You have nothing else to criticize. Decent teachers.....some people wouldnt know decent in this town if it slapped them in the face.

I had a talk with AW tonite at Pierson's sawmill. Here is what he told me about the Go Devil:

He said the Go Devil was not something he had made up. He stated that Noni Carte told him about the Go Devils as well as another Carte who is a neighbor of his. He also state that the woman that owned the resturant beside his office was on a camping trip with her husband the Go Devil came thru their camp ground. Johnny Woofter also said that he had heard that expression years ago.

Sounds to me with the screeching like a woman it could very be a PANTHER. I heard a panther screech like a woman a few years ago and talk about the hair standing up on your neck that will cause it. And a panther will not allow you to see it until it is ready to attack. Make your own decisions on this. A Go Devil sure sounds like a panther to me.

Imagination can do funny things to you when you let it run wild. I used to work with a guy that saw vampires and weirwolfs in the dark all the time. After beating the superintendent almost to death we couldn't scare him anymore by pulling our hair down over our faces.
A panther screams like a woman and is so blood curdling it will wake you from a deep sleep and every hair on your body will be standng straight out. DNR may say they are not here but like the coyotes the Insurance companys brought into the state to eliminate deer, you rarely see them. When you do see one it is usually like a shadow as they move so quickly.
There was a couple that denned on the old strip job going through Sycamore a few years ago but after it grew up into brush I haven't heard anyone say if they have been seen there lately. Anyway they are here, along with many other unwanted species and may never be seen by everyone but a few will hear and see them.

sherlock- This is Sandra Lynn Sears, yes recently arrested in the BIG ROUNDUP. I will give you the correct facts about my sister,
Jennifer Belt. The last time my Mother saw here was here at her house on Mt. Home Rd. where it is located! The last time I myself saw her, was in Widen, on Feb 9th
2005 in her truck going down Nicholas Street, which was where I lived at that time. The last person to see her to my knowledge, was the one and only Chuck Ferrebee, he is the one that claims that she walked out of Widen after she lost her keys and he broke the switch in the truck, and it still would not start. So he claims she took off walking. Oh Don't worry folks, we have all been questioned, polygraphed, and grilled up one side and down the other. People are bad whether they are on drugs or straight, so the fact that I have been arrested
for buying psuedoephedrine doesn't have a thing to do with my sister's disappearance which happened over a year ago. I love my sister, and I wish with all my heart that she was here, because I know that she would never leave her son Lucas, who is only 4 yrs old, because all she ever wanted was a baby. The reason she was staying with our Mother was because she was in the process of getting a divorce, I don't appreciate anyone questioning whether the tears I cry for her are real, I am so sick of people judging me, and a lot of you don't even know me!! I love my sister and it tears at my heart everyday, not knowing whether she is dead or alive, or if I will ever be able to hug her and tell her I love her once again. So much time has passed that I just don't think that is going to happen, and I know that someone out there knows what happened to her, I just wish they would come forward with that information, because that seems like it is going to be the only way we are going to get any answers. So there you go Sherlock-which I am so sure isn't your real name-I told you mine.
